CBET organizes Career Development Courses, CDC once every year at any town in Nigeria as prescribed by the Council of CBET.
The Career Development Courses are organised bring the technical and professional knowledge of members and other participants up to date with current views of biomedical engineering and technology at a global level.
CDC is divided into five parts, Parts A - E: Fellowship of CBET; Advanced Biomedical Engineering and Technology; Intermediate Biomedical Engineering and Technology; Basic Biomedical Engineering and Technology; and Foundation Biomedical Engineering and Technology.
For the successful candidates, the Foundation and Basic Biomedical Engineering courses leading to the award of the Professional Certificates in Foundation and Basic Biomedical Engineering
Part A is the Dissertation/Thesis defense for the prestigious Fellowship of the College of Biomedical Engineering and Technology (FCBET). Candidates for this part would have completed the other requisite parts of the career development programme.
Part B is the Advanced Biomedical Engineering and Technology, ABMET to take care of the advanced levels and cadres of professionals in biomedical engineering and technology as well as allied sciences, leading to the award of the Advanced Diploma in Biomedical Engineering and Technology. To qualify to take this part, candidates must have passed the Intermediate Biomedical Engineering and Technology professional examinations.
Part C is the Intermediate Biomedical Engineering and Technology to take care of the intermediate levels and cadres of professionals in biomedical engineering and technology, leading to the award of the Professional Diploma in Biomedical Engineering and Technology. To qualify to take this part, candidates must have passed the Basic Biomedical Engineering and Technology professional exams.
Part D is the Basic Biomedical Engineering and Technology to take care of the initial levels & cadres of professionals in biomedical engineering and technology, leading to the award of the Professional Certificate in Basic Biomedical Engineering and Technology. Every new entrant into the career development course who are graduates are now expected to take Basic Biomedical Engineering and Technology.
Part E is the Foundation Biomedical Engineering and Technology, leading to the award of the Professional Certificate in Foundation Biomedical Engineering and Technology. Undergraduates of tertiary institutions and unskilled workers in the field of biomedical engineering and technology are expected to take this part to give them the foundation they need in the field.
The respective modular Career Development Courses in addition are qualifying courses for the respective membership of CBET/NABET.
